Italy - best family destinations?

We are looking at two weeks in Italy, but have only been before as a couple, pre-kids. Where would you recommend for a family with 3 kids - aged 13, 11 and 9 please?

We enjoy the outdoors and being fairly active, walking, paddle boarding, swimming etc, and would like to have good options for eating out, interesting places to visit. We would prefer a Villa holiday to hotel. Any suggestions/recommendations welcome!

Lake Garda.Plenty of watersports available.
We stayed at Malcesine and did kayaking,a day trip to Verona and took the cable car up to Monte Baldo for great views and walks. There's also a high ropes course not too far away which our DC loved.

I came on to say Lake Garda. Riva del Garda to be precise!

Yep. Would agree with Lake Garda. The south east is best if you want to do more (eg theme parks, water park, visit Verona) but the north is more rugged and beautiful. Depends what you prefer. It’s also slightly cooler in summer. Overall, I like the north best but lots of people prefer the south.

Yes - that is where I would recommend in north. Good ferry connections to both Malescine and Limone. In south east, I would recommend Bardolino - lovely pretty bustling town.

Thank you! I have been to Lake Garda when I was much younger, it was stunning! Will definitely look at these suggestions, really helpful

Agree with the Lake Garda recommendations.

Sardinia is also great for families, fantastic for watersports.

Sicily and coastal Puglia ditto.
