  • Hotel preferred ( but could be self catering)
  • This summer
  • Couple
  • Quiet but walking distance to the nearest village or town
  • Stylish - something a bit special

Thank you!

If you like hotels with gardens I came across Terra Nostra Garden hotel in the Azores. The hotel backs onto a botanical garden with hot springs and as a guest you can go into the garden when it's closed to the public. The garden also has a large hot spring which you can bathe in.

I've never been there unfortunately, but it looks wonderful....maybe one day!

Vincci La Plantaccion del Sur, Costa Adeje, Tenerife. Had a blissful week there in early June.

This is a bit ‘of all the hotels, in all of the world’ 😉🤣...we have been to Lone, three times...superb. Just our sort of holiday, feels open and not hemmed in.
Tempted by the new hotel Park, saw it under construction and finished.

Roving is stunning and an easy walk in from Lone.

Will follow up the other suggestions. Thank you.

That's brilliant to hear actually because although we've stayed near Rovinj before, we're actually going to Lone this week (it was a toss up between that and Park)!

Adora Hotel, Lake Bled, Slovenia

Bled town has the pretty castle to visit 9which has a lovely restaurant with spectacular views. There's boat trips to the island, horse carriage rides, bikes for hire, water sports - kayaking, swimming, paddleboarding. Day trips to beautiful Bohinj (also amazing restaurant there and paragliding)

It's ridiculously pretty and chilled.

Villa Adora is a boutique hotel located on the shore of Lake Bled.

The Jumeirah in Soller, Majorca looks swanky.

Either of these two hotels at Lake Annecy. You can either drive, or fly to Geneva or Lyon, and it’s about an hour away.

There is never an issue with sunbeds as they are piled up on the grassed areas so that you can help yourself - but a little tip, go through the spa and there is a really quiet garden space with sunbeds. So peaceful!

There are also free drinks and fruit in the spa.

I love sitting outside the main restaurant(upstairs) for breakfast, usually free tables if you walk through the doors at the far end.

And if they are still offering it, there is a ‘healthy kitchen cafe’ type place, on the ground floor, which you can choose for breakfast. Healthy options, quiet and just nice for a change.

I love Rovinj too, especially going through the little archways, to bars on the rocks beside the sea. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g303833-d8325391-Reviews-Mediterraneo_Bar-Rovinj_Istria.html

I've just been looking through my photos, why do I need to go anywhere else but Lone....

Have an amazing time.

IKOS Resorts

Same. We've just come back from Ikos Aria in Kos after staying at the Andalusia one last year. Not cheap but takes luxury AI to a new level.

Thanks everyone, despite my thoughts above about returning to a stunning favourite ( fully booked for this year I think) I will look through your amazing links.

I'd need a lottery win for the San Domenico!

DibbleDooDah · 04/07/2023 11:01

@MissAmbrosia whoooooaaaaa I just checked the room rates. Last time I looked it was £689 a night in their most basic room.

I might need a rethink too 😂😂😂

We are going to Taormina in September and (after seeing White Lotus) looked it up. Nearly fainted! 😱I mean it's nice but not THAT nice. Accommodation was generally very expensive this year there any how.

Tracker1234 · 04/07/2023 11:05

I have been to San Domenico! Not when it was a Four Seasons, a number of years ago. It’s stunning and we got a massive upgrade as our room’s a/c wasn’t working. It’s in a great location too.

Anything that becomes a Four Seasons doubles in price.

Wouldnt pay the comedy prices now though.

DibbleDooDah · 04/07/2023 11:10

I think it’s the rich American effect who are prepared to spend huge amounts (particularly after seeing White Lotus). They love a Four Seasons. Compare the prices of a FS against any other premium brand in the same area and it’s a lot more expensive.

If it was a really special trip then I would splash out that kind of money if it was EXACTLY where I wanted to go though. I feel I can get something similar though in that area without the ridiculous premium.

San Stefanos in North East Corfu. Beautiful and quiet(ish), more traditional than the party side, wonderful food and a bustling village. Loads of villas are with Corfu Villas, but I think there are holiday apartments as well.
