Sardinia but not super expensive

Anyone been to Sardinia and if so any suggestions please for a 4 (or 5 star if not wildly expensive ) hotel in Sardinia.
The Forte village sounds amazing but way way out of our budget.
We'd consider self catering too.
Being near a beach and restaurants / shops is important.
TIA.

We went to Hotel Baia di Conte in Alghero and liked it. It was all inclusive and on a white sand beach where there were loads of pretty fish for snorkelling.

Following as planning on going in September!

Gabbiano Azzurro Hotel is gorgeous and is well situated for Golfo Aranci with its beautiful beaches. Lots of nice restaurants / bars but much better value than Porto Rotondo we found.

We stay in South Sardinia just up the coast from Forte Village. Not posting it here though, as it will get full of MNetters!

Thank you @KnittedCardi.
Unfortunately it has a salt water pool and often my skin will react to salt water+ sun+ sun cream so that's out. Sad

I’d stay in the centre of Alghero. There’s plenty of self-catering apartments.
