Where to go? Limited budget but not non existent. Two friends, like exploring and the outdoors, food and drink. All suggestions welcome

Tricky time of year, but if you're on a limited budget I'd look at where you can get to easily and cheaply, based on your departure airport. Do you want warm? If so, I'd look at Spain or Portugal. November is low season just about everywhere, so see what comes up. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with Spain. I've been all over and am always impressed by how Spanish almost everywhere still is, despite Spain incredible popularity with Brits and Germans and other northern Europeans. We loved Valencia, Malaga, Seville - also Lisbon. Lots to see and do, friendly people and great food and drink wherever you go.

Portugal is surprisingly affordable - Porto or Lisbon for city breaks, Faro or elsewhere in the Algarve for more beaches etc.

Spain would also be great as PP mentions - Seville was good value when we went as were Granada and Malaga.

Are you wanting to go abroad or UK?

What sort of budget numbers wise?

November, assuming you want sunshine, canaries islands would be good for reliable weather.

FlyingFlamingo · 01/07/2023 19:28

Barcelona? We are going in January so similar weather to November, we paid £1000 for 4 of us so £500 should be doable for 2? We could have got it cheaper by using EasyJet over BA (BA had better flight times) and we booked a mid range hotel, there were cheaper options.

cherryassam · 01/07/2023 19:32

Assuming the £500 is for flights + accommodation:

In Portugal, Porto or Faro should be doable on that budget in November - Lisbon possibly so, depending on the sort of accom you want.

In Spain, Malaga should be doable, as would quite a few other cities I’d have thought.

You should be able to manage The Canaries depending on the flight prices - we’ve found Tenerife the cheapest generally for accommodation but there are good value options on Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura too.

We're gong to Seville in November - flights were 150 euros with a carry on and booked seat. Definitely there is one bedroom accommodation for 2 nights around 200 euros for 2 nights. I've been looking at 2 bed/2 baths for 3 nights and plenty of places for say 500 euros.

Seville. One of my favourite cities and low 20's at New Year when we went.

Porto was lovely in the first week in Nov last year. We stayed 2 nights there, then did 2 nights in a Quinta about 2 hrs by train inland. Was a great train journey (follows the Douro river - so scenic) and a nice contrast to the city. But there's plenty to do in/around the city. We had a lovely day walking along the sea front at the end of the tram line, and taking in a few beach bars along the way. Eating and drinking was good value - we were pleasantly surprised.

fluckityfluckfluck · 01/07/2023 21:49

Sorry meant £500 each flights accommodation and food/drinks

£500pp you’ve got a pretty good choice.

How warm would you like to be?

fluckityfluckfluck · 02/07/2023 08:42

Torn between wanting some sun and thinking maybe Eastern Europe could be good?
