Have you stayed in Cala Sant Vicenç, Majorca (near Pollenca)?

We are looking at booking a villa in June in Cala Sant Vicenc and wondered if anyone else has stayed there before?

If so what are the beaches like? Have you stayed in a villa and if so do you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have been to Cala San Vicente several times as we used to own an apt in Puerto Pollenca. I would say rent a villa in Puerto P it is lovely, really lovely beach, C S V has a very small beacg and often the water gets very rough there, nor suitable for small children. Let me know if you need more help, I know of lots of places in PP and if you look up puertopollensa.com you will find loads of info. I would go for an apt town centre area.

hi i would agree with triplets, cala san vicente is nice for the day if the waters ok, but there is nothing much there and last time we went i got stung by a jellyfish!

I've stayed in a horrid hotel there. I actually liked the place though compared to the rest of Majorca. Didn't think the water was that choppy, have been with a couple of nephews who were 7 and 4. They loved it. The older one snorkelled around the very shallow coves. There are a few very small beaches which you could swim around to.

Thanks for all your advice.

We were looking at staying here www.vintagetravel.co.uk/villa_details.cfm?p_id=573 as we were after somewhere with a nice view, pool and garden for DD 4 and DS 3 to play.

We will have a car so don't mind a short drive to better beaches/restaurants. Any idea how long the drive is from CSV to Pollenca and Peurto Pollenca? (never quite trust holiday brochures!)

I'm not sure if I'm looking in the wrong places but I'm mainly finding apartments in PP or villas with small pool areas/gardens, which make me nervous with fear of 2 little ones falling in(paranoid mother!). Does anyone know of a specific villa in PP which they could recommend?

Thanks!

Hi, villa and views look fantastic, though personally I would be more worried by having a pool than not, you would have to watch them all the time. We have always found it easier to take our three to the safe beach at Pollensa, it is safe, shallow, clear water. There are some lovely apts to rents in Pinaret area in Pollenca, mins walk to the beach, you could have a ground floor one with gareden, and some of the blocks have a pool, it is a nice area. The drive from CSV is straight down the road, about 10 mins max.

Hi, we went to Cala san vicente last spring. Our villa was wonderful C'al an Bosh, with a shared pool, but the vilage has no centre, and is dominated by ugly hotels plenty of places to eat and a small scruffy beach.

Pollenca is much nicer, so is Puerto Pollenca.
Cals San Vicente has a really small beach, and two big Package style hotels.
It gets over run apparently , with noisy people from the hotels who have little to do but drink.

Puerto Pollenca is a port, and obviously bigger, but it's really lovely. Wide pine walk , where ypu can stroll for miles along the edge of the sea, until you reach tiny simple cafes almost on the sand.

Pollenca, the hill town , is gorgeous.Steps up to a cathedral, beautiful sqaure where you can let the kids run around chasing pigeons as you drink sangria. I would actually stay there if you have car, away from the obvious noise of the coast, but near enough to spin down for a dip.

We were out of season, so it would be far more crowded high season, but I have to say, san vicente disppointed us.

Thanks for your post northernrefugee39!

Can anyone recommend a villa in Polenca?

We stayed in Cala San Vincent out of season (May) a couple of years ago and it was very nice.
We went with Simply Travel which always has lovely villas and hotels. They have several in the Pollensa area as well. See:

(I hope that links works!)

Old Pollenca or the port? What time of year do you want to go?

2babies2tired · 26/02/2008 21:56

We are planning on going the middle 2 weeks or the last 2 weeks of June. Is there much difference in the weather?

We are quite happy to go for either Pollenca or Peurto Pollenca, both sound lovely!

The weather will be lovely either way. we have been in Feb and sunbathed! I would def go for Puerto Pollenca, be near the beach, it never gets crowded and the kids will really love it. Boat trips from there are lovely too, the square in the evening is a great place for the kids to toddle in. restaurants on the beach, its wonderful. Our fav restaurant is Tangos, abit upmarket, but they are sooooooooo good with kids, Manolo has become a good friend.

triplets · 26/02/2008 22:15

Do you still want a villa with a pool?

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 26/02/2008 22:15

I love Puerto Pollenca And Pollenca itself too.

We stayed in apartments so no advice re a villa. Go and have a lovely time
