We have come away for a week to a hotel that’s located on its own beach. Nothing else around, just the hotel. We were unsure about coming here as were a bit concerned it might be too expensive to eat at the restaurant.
We are staying on a B&B basis. I emailed the hotel to ask for a restaurant menu, they sent over a sample one which is also on their website.
First annoyance was the hotel charges 15% compulsory service charge for food. This is charged on breakfast, even if included in room rate. So there is an additional £5 a day charge.
Secondly, is that the menu prices are really out of date on the sample. I asked and they’re two years old. Some items are up to 30% more expensive. So we are talking about a dessert going from £12 which to me is “expensive but ok then” to £15.60 which to me is “no thanks, I’ll go without”
It’s just annoying to have set a healthy food budget, and then that be completely wrong because the menu prices were off.
