Looking for a few (budget friendly) days away at Christmas, snow and sledging maybe with markets. Two DC 8 and 10. Europe or UK

Cities with a good chance of snow that shouldn’t break the budget:

Tallinn, Estonia
Vilnius, Lithuania
Helsinki, Finland
Turku, Finland
Riga, Latvia
Innsbruck, Austria
Erfurt, Germany

You could also think about going to a winter resort which has things going on for non-skiers:

Garmisch-Partnekirchen, Germany
Bad Hofgastein, Austria
Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria
Cortina, Italy
Seiser Alm, Italy
Avoriaz, France

Salzburg - interesting city, markets and plenty of flights from the UK. There may not be snow in the city itself, but a short ride on the train or bus out into the mountains will get you to the snow experience at Lofer, Bad Gastein or Zell am See. You could of course stay in any of those places and take day trips into Salzburg.

"Garmisch-Partnekirchen" and "budget friendly" are not words usually found together in the same sentence - it is the Christmas resort for the rich "Schickimicki" from Munich and Bayern.
