Where to go in October?

Hello wise travellers, I need your advice. Looking to take the kids abroad for the first time during October half term. I'd like somewhere warm (but DP doesn't want it TOO warm - hence going in October rather than August...) I'd like a beach nearby, and a pool but also stuff to do nearby so we can do trips and explore a bit. Not keen on AI as I like trying different restaurants and seeing a bit of the area to which we travel. I'm also very aware it's the end of the season and some restaurants will be closing...so somewhere we'll still be able to get a meal would be good 😬. I'm not averse to cooking a couple of nights though, as long as there are shops nearby and we're not in the middle of bloody nowhere.

Happy to go self-catering villa or B&B. Kids are 10 and 6, both like being active. Ideally flying from Manchester. Happy to use local public transport to get about but don't want to spend all our days on buses/trains to get places. Budget is about £4k.

Has anyone any suggestions for somewhere the weather will be pleasant and there are things to do and see (and places to eat!), and that won't break the bank?

Thanks very much!

corralejo fuerteventura?
I’ve been at Easter, gorgeous weather and beaches, you could do a few days surfing for your children, boat trip, explore beaches, you can hire electric bikes and cycle up a volcano, then feed wild chipmunks! There’s a lovely town square with live music at sunset and fab restaurants.

Or Faro airport in Portugal, which takes you to the Algarve - absolutely spoilt for choice then!!

Cyprus.

We went in October half term and the weather was perfect. Warm sea, warm evenings, but days not too hot. If you prefer to swim in a pool you might want to look for a heated one though as the pool was much colder than the sea.

Tenerife might work - there are some lovely little towns which are more traditional and the bigger touristy resorts. Huge range of accomodation at different price ranges. We like Los Gigantes, Puerto de La Cruz, Puerto de Santiago, El Medano .

Agree with PP that Corralejo would be good too!

Paphos in Cyprus is a lovely place with a good mix of beach / things to do.

Thanks all, looking into those options now.

We went to Malaga last October and it was perfect. Beaches, museums, archaeology, historical sites, palm trees, parakeets. Excellent food options and it was 25C every day. We had a fabulous holiday.

Another vote for Malaga & Costa del Sol. Warm without being too hot and if you have a car easy access to Seville, Granada, Jerez and lots of other lovely places.
