Last Minute holiday bargains, where to find?

We had some plans for the first week for the summer hols staying with friends which has fallen through as they've had a bereavement in the family.

As such we have a week booked off work etc but with no plans.

We don't have heaps of cash for an unplanned holiday so was hoping to find a last minute bargain break package type thing - is this a pipe dream?! Any websites or places people have had luck with this?

I remember getting an amazing 5* in Paris for half price from a local travel agents as we went out the week after but this was from a local agent that has now closed.

Any ideas gratefully received!

I don't think they exist anymore. We had £99 holidays for a week through last minute.com but those days are long gone.

Bugger. I was hoping for a week in luxury for a grand just because I'm not fussy where and have a week off work :-)

I just book my holidays on easyjet or jet2 apps now . Find a flight you fancy then hotel and transfer through them . They've always been fine .

Tui do last minute / late deals but they’re nowhere near as good as they used to be.

EasyJet holidays similarly do some last minute discounts but not great.

Physical travel agents can still have some good deals - our local branch of Hays often has adverts for proper last minute deals with decent discounts.

Last minute just means what they have left unsold but not any cheaper.
Jet2 is advertising some discounts atm but I doubt you would find anything for £1k.

I miss the days of walking past a travel agents , seeing an amazing deal and jetting off a few days later

What dates and whereabouts can you fly from? Maybe someone will be able to find a good deal.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 02/07/2023 00:18

Oh and how many adults and children?

milkysmum · 02/07/2023 00:21

Is that the budget for the family or each?

I found last minute cruise deals are cheap.
Last summer I got 12 days ( 11 nights) for £1,600 for two of us. That included flights out to Spain and a lovely hotel that I booked separately. Then a Med cruise for 10 nights all inclusive ( unlimited drinks package) in a balcony cabin.
That was beginning of August too.
I wouldn’t have booked a cruise normally but had to go outside of term time. It was the best value I found and I looked at everything.

Sorry meant to add I booked end of June. I think they sell off unsold cabins really cheaply through online cruise agents.
Some are cheap because the cruises start in Europe so you need to factor in travel. You can get cheap flights to Spain even this late though. MSC let you pick up the cruise at any port so you can add or subtract dates to suit budget ( it’s per person per night)
