We are housesitting for a friend over Easter and would welcome recommendations for days out with DS 6 and DD 3. Many thanks, CB xx

Hi ChipButty

DS4 loves the National Space Centre in Leicester and the Abbey Pumping Station next door.

Check out IdeasForTheKids for other ideas in the area you are visiting. Leicestershire is a great central location so you have stacks within an hour's drive or train including much of Birmingham, Stratford and the rest of Warwickshire.

Have fun!

Got to be twin lakes under 12s theme park near melton mowbry for the kids benefit not yours.
There's a lovely museum 5 min walk up the hill from leicester train station with lots of hands on stuff for kids/ dinosaur bones and so on - i'm sure the name will come back to me later!

TWIN LAKES

cazzybabs · 24/02/2008 15:26

What about COnkers - not quite sure if it quite in the right diredction. My east midlands geog is poor.

colditz · 24/02/2008 15:28

TWINLAKES in Melton Mowbray. It's fantastic. It is NOT just a farm!

colditz · 24/02/2008 15:30

Rutland water is Great too, many many things to do there.

theheadgirl · 24/02/2008 16:29

Another vote for Rutland water, take scooter/trikes/bikes and go to the butterfly house.

Twin Lakes fab day out whether it's raining or not. Rutland Water, easy cycle routes for little ones, reasonable bike and buggy hire.
Conkers was disappointing in my opinion. Twycross Zoo lots to see and do, animals don't seem to mind the cold so you don't miss out in that respect. I'd take a picnic though - lots of chips and 'cheap' food). Check out which National Trust properties have opened for the year, would highly recommend Belton House near Grantham, interesting House, extensive grounds and an adventure park with little railway.

HTH.
