How to get an early flight with a baby…

We have a 5am flight
how do I successfully get to the airport without upsetting the little one? 8mo baby that loves sleep

airport is 20 mins away so not too bad. We have to check in luggage too.

Most babies IME just go with the flow. If tired they'll sleep in the car/ in the buggy/ on the flight. Otherwise they'll amuse themselves looking at all the people. Make sure you have a bottle or something for baby to suck during takeoff and landing.

We always just went. Baby will go back to sleep in the car? And then probably sleep around the airport, too, if they like sleep... just be prepared that they might not, and make plans for breakfast/playing, too.

It'll be fine, honestly :) Easier at that age than with toddlers!

Are they the kind of baby that transfers easily when asleep? Lift into car seat, car seat into taxi/car, finally baby into sling/carrier when you check in the car seat, etc. Basically just keep them in their night clothes and night nappy. My friends successfully did this and I was amazed. Kid didn’t wake up til mid flight. All hell would break loose with my children, I’d need to deploy boobs, sling, frantic bouncing and singing.

You just do really. Bring a stroller and she might sleep in that while you're walking around the airport, or she might not. Hopefully she'll sleep on the plane, my son always did. Either way she'll be fine.

Not a good transferer unfortunately.
you’ve all made me feel a bit better though, that he should just be ok! Let’s hope so. ☺️

There’s not really a lot you can do is there? I wouldn’t skip a nappy change on wake up but you could get them up, give a milk feed then put them into the car seat and hope they might go back to sleep, then quick transfer into the pram when you arrive and use a snoozeshade. They’ll have to get out again at security though. If they don’t go back to sleep though don’t sweat it, if that happens then more chance that they’ll sleep through the flight so it’s probably a good thing! I think with traveling you just have to be willing to let the routine go. Also don’t know what you normally do weaning wise but there are Ella’s breakfast pouches that are exactly 100ml so don’t need to go for separate screening at security.
