Hoping to go to Croatia next summer as it's been on our bucket list for ages. DC will be 9 and 11 and enjoy beaches/pools as well as a few day trips/adventures. Any recommendations for where to stay with DC this age? Open to any kind of accommodation etc. thank you

We loved Split. You’ve got the islands, Hvar and Brac, which can be done as day trips or we stayed on each and loved them.

Seconding Split.

Easy to get to the best islands , Brac is amazing and beautiful.

Also near one of the National parks that has the great waterfalls and pools but get there early in the day as it gets busy.

Split is an amazing, buzzing city, Diocletian's palace where they filmed Game of thrones is just stunning and the city is built in and around the Roman ruins, it's all interwoven.

On Brac we stayed at Waterman Village and it was beautiful! They’ve got bungalows which I’m sure would work great with kids.

We stayed in Split city centre, which might not be best if you want lots of pool etc. time. Our hotel did have a rooftop pool but can’t say it would be ideal with kids!

We've just had a lovely few days in Split - sadly we didn't have time to visit the islands.

But - I'd avoid in summer. It was really busy even in May, and there are cruise ships arriving almost every day. One of the restaurants we were in said that it gets stupidly busy in the summer.
