Hi. We're planning on going for a week but have no idea where to start. We're driving so will have a car. Any tips on where to stay? Possibly two bases?

We loved Pula. Gorgeous beaches, great snorkelling if that would be enjoyed. We also saw other water sports going on, surfing, jet skis, kite surfing etc. There are lots of cafes and bars and it’s got a lovely atmosphere.

Nearby there is Nora where’s there is a wildlife park/aquarium and you can do a canoe excursion where they show you the wildlife, highly recommend. There’s also an archaeological site there which is definitely worth a visit. Again a gorgeous beach too.

I believe there is also a sort of Go Ape type rope course thing, but we didn’t do this as I’m a wuss with heights!

DH, me and two teenage boys stayed at the opposite end - Palau - but we were mainly there for diving in the marine park. Great location if you are into diving / snorkelling, loads of lovely little coves. The resort is a good size with plenty of eating options. we just got a cheap Airbnb. It was summer and boiling hot so we didn’t venture inland much, September might be nicer for that. We did a day trip over to La Maddelena which was fab, definitely take your car to explore, it’s not expensive on the ferry.
