Croatia - stops between Split and Plitvice

Hi, we need to break up a drive from Split to Plitvice as per the title - I’m struggling to find anything that would work in August with a 3yo and 6yo. Does anyone have any experience / ideas to share please?

You could go the more inland route through Dalmatia and stop in Knin or Gracac.

If you’d prefer to stick more to the E roads, you could look at somewhere along the Riviera Paklenica, E.g. Starigrad, Seline or Tribanj
