Les Valades - August 2023

We are booked to stay at Les Valades the last x 2 weeks in August, after a bit of advice?

I appreciate the second week of our stay will be quiet (I understand entertainment finishes the 3rd week in August etc) is it nice quiet or rubbish / wrapping up the season quiet?

Apart from the campsite beach lake any other beach lake recommendations close by?

Local spots you can easily access the Dordogne river? We have young children 11 years and under so shallow / able to paddle type thing.

Any other tips, useful items at the campsite?

Thank you

A few years ago this was the place always mentioned on here! At the time there was a camping section specifically for abroad though. You might get more responses there (not sure if you have posted there though?).
It's a few years since we went but for DS it's still one of his favourite holidays. He was 8 at the time I'm in denial I thought it was only about 4 years ago that we went but it was 8.

I had to post so i could look back at your questions!
If you search on here you will get loads of threads about the place. We explored a great distance around and did an organised kayaking down the dordogne where they take you to the start and collect you at the other end. Sarlat was beautiful but heaving so if you are there at the end of the season it will be much better.
I don't remember any other lakes tbh, but my two lived the one on site.
What are you staying in?

Thank for your reply. With the lake (trying not to be paranoid parent) but do they have life vests?!! My youngest x 2 can swim wondering if I need to buy some or you can borrow them?

I don't remember seeing any but it was a few years ago and if different owners now, they might do things differently. We've generally found France to be very lax with health and safety compared to the uk.

I had a search but the thread must be so old they've been deleted. But there's a current thread about it in the camping section.
