Mini moon ideas for October

My DP and I are getting married in September and had booked a week off work at the beginning of October for our honeymoon. Unfortunately it’s looking like we can’t afford the week away in the sun that we had been hoping for, which we are both really gutted about.

I’m trying to find ideas for where we could go for a mini moon instead, maybe just Friday- Sunday. Our DD is coming with us, she’ll be 7 months old by then, so we want to go somewhere that’s a short flight from Northern UK airports, no more than 3 hours. Also the more affordable, the better!

I feel like Paris is a typical “romantic” weekend away but we have both been before and don’t fancy it with DD.

If anyone has any suggestions I’d be very grateful!

Madeira? Will still be quite warm and only short flight. Funchal is lovely and has lots to do. The 3 day thing may be an issue as there aren't daily flights but worth a look. Alternatively Lake Garda.

Nice? The weather should be good. Lovely prom to walk along. Flower market. Some good museums. Old town for a wander. Lovely restaurant terraces. Flight is quite short and it's easy to get from the airport by public transport. Antibes is also possible from there.

Bordeaux is nice

Bordeaux is a lovely idea.

Maybe not what you're looking for, but I got married in the Highlands in October and it was stunning, weather was also good (obviously not hot though)! Some parts maybe a bit remote to travel to with a little one though.

On our way back home we stayed at one of the Lochs for one night and another 2 nights in the Lake District, it was sooo lovely.

Granada in the south of Spain? You can go to the Alhambra, which is breathtaking, and wander the historic Albaicin neighbourhood. It has steep streets, I warn you, but wonderful views over the city, and lovely narrow winding streets with whitewashed houses.
Granada as a whole is very laid-back and child-friendly. Should be mild weather then too.

A Spanish city maybe?

València, Barcelona, Malaga, Palma (Mallorca), Santander, Granada - we’ve enjoyed all of these from Manchester and can be surprisingly good value.

Other ideas:

Lisbon
Nice
Porto
Krakow
Bratislava (Leeds usually better than Manchester for some reason)
Faro
Berlin
Naples
Bologna

Palma is a lovely city. You can get direct flights with easyJet from Newcastle airport.
