My mum just rang to book flights with them and they said we have to do it over the internet but we are struggling to understand some of the charges (£6 check in fee ?).

Can you really not book over the phone ??

its a piss take isnt it?

WendyWeber · 22/02/2008 17:13

Have you looked at East Midlands instead of B'ham? And is there an alternative airport tht other end?

nutcracker · 22/02/2008 17:17

Can't go from East Mids .

I think i better just book it before I explode. Luckily my mum has said she will pay the extra.

Right it's done.

I had a slight panic attack when it came up at the end that I have booked to fly to barcelona, but they meant barcelona reus.

Thing is with Ryanair, although the headline prices are ludicrous - ie £1.99 per head each way for my DDs' flights to Pisa - the actual fares, including all the various surcharges, are still really cheap (theirs came out to just over £27 per head each way)

Yours for the 5 of you are approx £50 per head each way - given that the kids have to pay full price - which is still not bad for the distance. (It would just be nice if they gave you a total figure upfront instead of making you jump through hoops )

Hope you all have a lovely time anyway, nutty

Ryanair website shut till Monday

Ryanair says the work is for an essential system upgrade
Budget airline Ryanair is closing its website for bookings until late on Monday to upgrade the system.
Customers will be unable to book flights online or on the telephone, and its web check-in service will also be unavailable from 2200 GMT on Friday.

The system will return at 2300 GMT on Monday, 25 February, when the airline will be promoting some cheap deals.

The shutdown will allow it to comply with an order by UK market regulators to make prices on its website clearer.

Thats interesting Bree, I wouldn't have minded the charges so much if they hadn't sneaked them in at the end.

Anyway it is done now, so please god, I did it all right and we don't get to the airport and discover I made some huge error somewhere.

Oh my mum paid £10 charge for paying by debit card too

Thank you all for your help

Thomson Alfresco site, staying in a chalet type thingy, which looks nicer than my house lol.

Just told the girls and they stood there with their mouths open, completely silent.

ah thats so sweet.

Did the alfresco come up at the same price?

(my alfresco brochure arrived today, I spent the morning circling places that I want to go to!!)

WendyWeber · 22/02/2008 18:08

The charge for paying by debit card really really pisses me off

Banks charge businesses for taking credit card payments, and to pass those on is fair enough, but the bank charge is only about 2½% and a lot of businesses just absorb it - whereas Ryanair charge £2 per person per flight, or about 8% on an average booking.

Banks don't charge at all for handling debit card payments though and Ryanair are still taking 4%! How do they get away with that???

WendyWeber · 22/02/2008 18:11

Just had a google at Salou, it looks fab!

And you won't need a lot of clothes there in September

WendyWeber · 22/02/2008 18:17

emma, are you still a travel agent or are you doing something else now?

bookwormmum · 22/02/2008 19:17

Ryanair website is down?

nutcracker · 22/02/2008 20:02

Yep emma, the alfresco price was as it was online and in brochure, and we added a damage waiver thingy for £15, cos the girl said if you don't they will ask for a refundable charge of 200 euros when you get there.
