Under 3 weeks when we sent a renewal in April.

We did ours recently and even though we did it from overseas we had in back in a month. I was also panicking about the suggested 11 week wait hit it was much quicker

Ours took about 2-3 weeks last month (total of 4 passports, 2 different passport offices). There’s also a one week option if you’re worried and prepared to pay extra, or you can start with the standard rate service then upgrade to the quicker option if it looks like it won’t be back in time.

Was just about to ask the same thing!

Renewal for me with name change due to getting married and new one for newborn, we are going away mid September and I'm really hoping we've done it in time.

Photos were done by official passport photo studio place that give you a code to upload them online so hoping that means no delay that way. I've sent our marriage certificate, babies birth certificate and my old passport tracked Royal Mail so really hoping it's all okay and will come back soon 🙏🏻

Used the post office "let us do it for you" service and it took 11 days in April :)

MrsTJOsbornee · 22/06/2023 11:01

Sent mine and was back two weeks to the day that I posted it off. Did online if that made any difference.

I just did my renewal online. I wanted to do the fast track option, but you have to make an appointment at a passport office to collect it. There is no option for it to be posted. You can nominate someone else to collect on your behalf, but I don't have anyone.
There are NO appointments anywhere near me.
The available appointments (earliest is 2 weeks) are hundreds of miles away. By the time I pay for travel plus the extra fee for fast track, I can't afford it.
In the end, given that the ordinary online option is just over half the fast track option I just did it that way and will hope for the best.

DD did hers online 2 weeks ago, it's back already - took 10 working days.

That is really encouraging to hear.

DD3 and I had to do ours last year, her in April and me in July. We both did the online forms (so much easier) and took our own photos.

Both new passports arrived in under a fortnight and even back then the passport office had been saying we should allow 10 weeks. We were pleasantly surprised.

I renewed DD's passport on 11th June (Sunday) and I've just got it today. Simple process online (especially with new - to me- photo code).
