Hi, thinking about getting away in August. Still tied to school hols because of the 16 year old. 3 adults ( including 19 year old DD) plus 16 year old DS.
Where would not be too crowded or too hot and humid?
We were in Lanzarote last year and the temperature was perfect for me, with the wind cooling everything down a bit. Everyone else want to go somewhere new though.

Well I suppose it depends on what type of holiday you want? Some people like flopping by the pool, others like sightseeing and some like a mix. What do all of you like?

Fivemoreminutes1 · 19/06/2023 19:17

North Spain, somewhere near San Sebastián

A mix. Relaxing by the pool, but also some interesting places to explore.

The canaries. Obviously. You've already said that's perfect for you 😬🤣

cannotfindanickname · 20/06/2023 11:15

Somewhere with similar climate to the canaries. I want to just go back there but my family don't 😢. I don't like too much heat and humidity.

Tenerife then, sell it to them with Siam Park

Tenerife sounds too touristy for me. I am looking for pretty scenery and buildings and some culture to explore.

Lisbon? 🤷🏽‍♀️

What about Madeira?

LegendsBeyond · 21/06/2023 14:47

Well if you’re going in August, it will be busy & hot in most places. Madeira’s nice, but maybe not for teenagers. Fuerteventura was quite chilled, but it doesn’t really have much culture or interesting buildings.

Jessiexx80 · 21/06/2023 14:52

I agree with Madeira, my 15 year old loved it. Interesting buildings, especially if you go to the top on the cable cars. Great if you like getting out and about walking, cycling etc. Not so much in the way of entertainment however or beaches (we went to Funchal)

Maddy70 · 21/06/2023 15:06

Canaries is very hot then tbh all of Spain is hot and humid in August. That's why Spain closes down for the month of August.

I would head to France

Madeira would perfect. It's quiet though, and few families (because no real beaches). But stunning scenery (gorgeous mountain hiking if you've got transport), interesting places to visit, boat trips, coast swimming etc. We didn't find the food desperately exciting, but it was perfectly nice. Climate lovely.

Madeira looks nice. Any recommendations where to stay?
