Suddenly got a free week in August...suggestions of things to do with toddler

My nanny has just said she's taking a week of holiday in August. I'm going to take the week off work. We've not budgeted for a holiday then but I'd love to do something special with my 15 month old DS. We live in London, I'm thinking a few days away or a series of day trips in or out of London. Does anyone have any suggestions for day trips or where we could go for a few nights that wouldn't cost much? Budget about £1,000 in total.

How about 3-4 days in a family friendly resort eg Devon. My kids loved exmouth as children

Fisher’s Farm Park in West Sussex is excellent for toddlers. They’ve got two indoor sensory rooms, soft play, loads of animals, and a special toddler outdoor play area.

Will it just be the two of you?
If so I'd plan a special week but stay at home so you aren't just sitting on your bed in an unfamiliar hotel room every night.
A trip to the zoo.
A trip to a city farm
A trip to a lido or swimming pool
A trip to the beach
A water park or fountain where children are allowed to splash
Lots of sensory input and memories made together and lots of cuddling/reading time without the upheaval of a strange bed.

These are great ideas. Not clear yet if DP will also take the week off, depends on work. Might get away for a couple of nights and fill the rest with this kind of thing.

This place looks great, exactly what I am after for a day trip.

If you can find anywhere for just a few days, I’d go to the North Norfolk coast.
