Flying with big bugaboo buggy

Hi all! About to fly with two kids & would like to have both our yo-yo and bugaboo fox when we’re away. Obviously I know the yo-yo can go in the overhead lockers but I can’t work out what happens with the bugaboo. It breaks down into two pieces, so I’m not sure if we can use it right up the the plane doors. So does it get checked in as luggage? And if so, is there a chance it could get damaged? We’re flying BA

It can depend on the airport and airline. We went away with our big pram (not bugaboo) they let us keep it until the gate but it had to fold into 1 piece otherwise they wouldn't put it in the loading bay. Which was tricky as it didn't fold into one very well at all. We went to another destination via a different airline a couple of months later and we had to check our pram in and was given an airport pram to use up until the gate. Sorry, probably not helpful but just showed the difference depending on provider and place.

I’m not sure I’d travel with a bugaboo due to the risk of damage; they aren’t careful with them in my experience .

Prams get beat up a bit in the hold, often. I'd get a secondhand McLaren type folding pram secondhand that you don't mind getting bashed up a bit. You can always flog it back when you get home.

Honestly I wouldn’t take a bugaboo it’s likely to get damaged. I’d get a cheap second hand one or check if hiring one in resort is an option.
