Group Holiday

There are 3 milestone birthdays in our family next year and we'd all like to go away together to celebrate.

We'd like a villa that will accommodate all of us and will be flying from Scotland, probably in September. There will be 10 adults (ranging in age from 29 - 65) and 2 kids (2 & 4) so ideally no longer than a 3/4 hour flight.

Can anyone suggest/recommend a destination or specific villa?

James villas has a lot to choose from we have always used them when going on a group holiday as they have larger villas

Costa del Sol ( flying to Malaga ) or Mallorca ( do we not say Majorca now? )
Have a look at Jet2 villas website.

Portugal is very easy, and has lots and lots and lots of villas both along the coastline, as well as in some beautiful more rural areas.

We booked several times through the Owners Direct website.

How many bedrooms do you need?

gogohmm · 18/06/2023 08:50

We found a gorgeous 5 bed villa in Mallorca but you would need a car(s) that's the main issue we found with villas. Children that size fly easily I found

Probationnotontarget · 18/06/2023 08:51

Try all inclusive villas if you fancy something like that. I’ve seen a few in Tenerife

HawdMeBack · 18/06/2023 13:47

Thanks everyone! @Littlefish we need 7 bedrooms.

If you would split over 2 villas I would recommend the los mojones area of puerto del carmen. There are lots of villas on the same street, walking distance to the town and a sheltered cove for the kids. Pools are heated and you don’t have to have a car. Lanzarote really isn’t grotty and if you have a car there is a lot to explore.

Thank you for the recommendation, I'll have a look into that! We could possibly do a 5 bed villa and a 2 bed apartment if they were close to each other as it's DH and I who have the 2 DC.

That would be a really good idea. You won't have to worry about your children running around in mornings and waking others (complaints I often hear after people I know go on group/family holidays)
Anywhere in south of Spain as said here and the canaries but theyvmight be over 4 hours from Scotland.

Greece is similar flight time as canaries and they have so much choice.

I’d think carefully before doing this as it means one of you would be stuck away from the group every evening once the kids go to bed.

Premiervillas.net have some very nice large villas in the Algarve. I have always fancied staying at Monte da Poupa, which has 7 bedrooms.

Options I have stayed in include Miranda 1 and Villa Vista Azul, both of which were excellent and have sister properties adjacent that you can rent together. They are also listed with other agencies, so shop around on price. Good luck!

SeatonCarew · 19/06/2023 00:46

Sorry, Villa Vista Do Mar is the one I stayed in, Villa Vista Azul is next door. It was truly stunning, like a small hotel with a pool house.

Villa Vista Do Mar in Olhos d'Agua.

Group Holiday

Hello, we looking for recommendations for a group family holiday in Europe for 3 different families. One has kids aged around 7 and 11 and us 13 year old and then grandparents. We thinking hotel for us as we like hotels or our own villa or apartment and a shared villa or apartment for the other 2 families (who are happy to share). We like our own space.

Any tips for child friendly, 4 star plus, flight time no more than 4.5 hours in Europe? Somewhere to get all family together for during day and own accommodation at night. Thanks

Mumsnet protocol is you start your own post ( in the holidays section ).
add a rough budget and time of year you’re looking to travel.
