DP has booked a surprise holiday , only told us today and the kids passports have expired. Have managed to get a fast track appointment for the passport office for 20th (Tuesday) at an eye watering cost.
Holiday is on 30th.
What are the chances of getting them in time? Anyone got any experience?

Fast track appointment is a guaranteed 7 day turn around so you should be absolutely fine

justasmalltownmum · 17/06/2023 21:52

We did this a few weeks back.
Made a face to face appointment. And then they sent it in the post within 5 days.

2lsinllama · 17/06/2023 22:32

We did ours online and they were here within 10 days so you should be fine.

Hopefully should be fine , but the anxiety levels are huge. Also can only do kids renewal fast track application by paper and physical photos so need to sort that on Monday.

Just wondering how long this took for you? I’m in a similar situation with a much shorter timeframe due to misreading passport expiry 😬

@Endoftethermum1 Hi , got the on the Friday so 3 days , what a relief- shame holiday was totally not worth the hassle

Oh no, how come? Where did you go?
we did find our passports really quick to come, 2 were back in 10 days and 1 back within the week (online applications in May).

Went to Tenerife , found it too noisy and busy for my liking, we usually go somewhere quieter but chose for the kids to have more things to do . Was just like being in Britain but really hot.

Oh that really is a shame. I’m not a fan of noisy and busy at the best of times but let alone on holiday!
Mind you I’d not turn my nose up a bit of sunshine at the moment…

We had similar a few years ago. We live in London and the earliest appointment was in Liverpool so I had to get the train at the crack of dawn.

We realised the passport had expired on the weekend so no time to get the application form from the post office or the photo countersigned.

I filled in the form while waiting for my appointment at Liverpool passport office. Then got to the counter and as anticipated the man on the counter said my son's photo should have been countersigned. AaI explained what had happened and that there had been no time to get the countersignature. .
I was virtually in tears as I thought he would insist on the counter signature and I'd have to go back to London. But he allowed it probably to avoid having to deal with the crying and we got the passport back within 5 days.

It was soooo stressful! And the courier who delivered it didn't even ring the bell and ask for a signature he just posted it through the letterbox and we found it on the mat when we'd been waiting for the doorbell!

I now triple check all passports!

@goingback hi if you still remember what documents did you bring with you?
Didn't have a conclusive list on the website when I applied for one

goingback · 10/08/2024 14:57

@twilightsparkleee completed paper applications, countersigned photos ,birth certificates, ID for me., hope this helps.
