Could anybody recommend one please?

I think Greece and Turkey would be too hot for us.

We have DS6.

What's the food like? Hate to be rude, but the traveller pictures of it are TA are terrifying

Just normal AI buffet

What about Portugal? I’ve got a couple of recommendations for hotels with heat dining and decent slides in the Algarve.

BarbaraofSeville · 17/06/2023 13:54

I think if you want good food and a nice dining experience, so sitting outside in a pleasant location and your food being brought to you, rather than having to queue up for a buffet, you don't want AI unless you want to pay for Ikos etc.

Also if you don't want it too hot, maybe the Costa Brava north of Barcelona would suit?

We've been there a couple of times and stayed in apartments or gone B&B in a hotel, made visits to the water park near Roses, then swum in the sea, and eaten out each day, combined with stocking up on drinks, snacks, ice creams etc and had the odd BBQ on the terrace.

A nicer experience, no risk of a 'terrifying' buffet and a lot cheaper than the sort of AI you might pick if your budget stretches into (nearly) five figures.

I don't mind a buffet- as long as it's actually nice. Went to a lovely AI in Croatia once but it's adults only and not many seem to have water slides. The buffet there was fantastic!

Don't bank on Mallorca being much cooler than Greece or Turkey.

A friend of mine went a few years ago during the summer and complained that it was way too hot. She's a bit of a sun worshipper too so was surprised she was complaining about the temperature.

Cuckoosheep · 17/06/2023 19:37

Have a look at insotel Punta Prima.

imnottoofussed · 17/06/2023 20:03

@DataNotLore out of interest which hotel in Croatia? I've looked off and on at Croatia and never made a decision to actually go

We had a great holiday years ago at the hotel El Paso, attached to the Portaventura theme park near Barcelona. There's a water park too.

Agree with this, we have been in both and have not noticed the heat difference; both hot but manageable with pools, sea, air conditioner.

We have been in Mayorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera, Kefalonia, Zakyntos and Corfu so can’t comment on the Islands further south

Thinkerbell78 · 18/06/2023 08:27

Children love Greece but we are not into all inclusive so can’t comment on that; we prefer self catering for the space and independence and rent a car to explore the area and eat in the local restaurants,

Kefalonia is beautiful and green

Tui blue Ibiza
