Where to stay in Paris (or where not to stay?)

Planning to do a long weekend in Paris with DS (10) in August. I don't know Paris (have been once, more than ten years ago) and don't know where to look for a hotel? We are happy to walk for a bit, feel confident using the metro (iirc it was very easy to navigate and similar to London). We will be doing typical tourist things, nothing unusual.

Any tips? I haven't got a huge budget, max £200 per night I think. Oh, we will be travelling by Eurostar so arriving into Gare Du Nord.

We've been a few times. We've stayed with Novetel twice - once at the one near the Eiffel Tower and once at Bercy. Both decent.

The last time we went we stayed at a place near the Eiffel tower called Yooma urban lodge which had family rooms and was set up for families. That's within walking distance of supermarkets and the metro. That was very nice too.

Oh, to add, we travelled by Eurostar too and just got the metro out of Gard du Nord - really easy to navigate.

Great thanks - I will check those out. Appreciate it.
