Going in September with a 4 year old and 8 month old, we want to be on or very close to a beach and 4 year old wants a nightly disco, apart from that we are easy! Smile

Our DS is nearly 5 and we've been going to Cala Millor since he was around 10 months. This will be our destination again this year because it has pretty much everything we need. The beach is pleasant, there are various kids' fun parks around, everything is quite compact and within walking distance and it also provides a good basis for exploring other parts of the island. There, you're also very close to the resorts of Sa Coma and Cala Bona if you need a change of scenery.

The only downside is that it takes quite a while to get there from Palma airport (around 45 minutes in a private taxi). On our first trip, we took a bus which took considerably longer (although was a lot cheaper) and after a flight with a baby who only wanted to practise walking all the time, I regretted that decision almost immediately. . . !

Another idea . . . last year we took a trip to Platja de Muro on the northern side, which has a beautiful beach - very child friendly. It's popular with families there, too. Certainly quieter than Cala Millor, but still has bars and restaurants to choose from.

Hope that helps!

Puerto Pollensa would be worth a look.

PickledMuffin · 16/06/2023 00:18

second one here saying puerto pollensa . great places to stay but also the beach is amazing with many playgrounds. sea is crystal clear too!

Calla Millor is very good and family orientated.
Plenty to keep you busy too.
This bar is one of the longest established in the area, very nice helpful people great for advice if you are struggling or just want some good food.

I didn't like Alcudia, Santa Ponsa, or Calas de Mallorca. Avoid Magaluf like the plague.

Loved Puerto Pollensa/Pollensa as well as Soller/Puerto Soller. And Cala D'Or.

And don't discount Palma, there are some really lovely hotels there and the city is lovely.

Bananaspliff · 16/06/2023 20:42

Puerto Pollensa. Look at the Pollensa Park and Spa hotel, there’s a little splash park, nightly mini disco and close to the beach. Playa Mar hotel is lovely too but approx 25 minutes walk from the beach.

Cala Millor and Sa Coma also great recommendations, Cala Millor is mainly German tourists rather than British- take that as you will!

Puerto Azul in Puerto Pollensa also is b family friendly and has a children's disco every night. Location is very central - minutes from the beach and the main town square.

Gobacktosleep · 16/06/2023 22:25

Marsenses Ferrera Blanca in Cala D’Or! We had the loveliest holiday there last year with our 3 year old. Highly recommend!

Justsaying22 · 16/06/2023 22:29

Puerto pollensa. We’ve been 4 times now and are staying in the Puerto azul this year, as the reviews and location looks great.

Sa Coma is lovely - Any of the Protur hotels (Sa Coma Playa, Vista Badia, Safari Park.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 16/06/2023 22:32

Sa coma is lovely

greentreeseverywhere · 16/06/2023 22:33

sa coma is great and Aprt hotel vista badia is a short walk from the beach and you get use of the other hotel resturants. and splash park.

TheFairyCaravan · 16/06/2023 22:33

Cala D’Or Playa apartments are excellent for families. They’re in between two beautiful, safe beaches and within walking distance of the town.

It’s a while since we’ve been, it was our children’s favourite holiday destination, but I’ve just checked the TripAdvisor reviews and it seems it’s still a really good place to go.

I'll second this with the Protour palmeras playa. It's minutes from the beach. Very clean, nice food and friendly staff. They have a gate down the side that allows access to the beach rather than having to walk all the way round from the reception area. People who are going home often Chuck inflatables next to it and anyone can help themselves to them to use in the pool or down on the beach. We took an inflatable ring to use in the sea on one of the days.

As an expat in the UK - we're quite friendly when on holiday, honestly! 😂

Agree with the Puerta Pollensa recommendations. It's beautiful there, lovely to bike up and down the coast.
I wouldn't recommend the Park and Spa hotel though.

Highly recommend the Exagon Park in C'an Picafort.

AndAllOurYesterdays · 17/06/2023 07:15

If you want all inclusive and the nightly disco then you can't go wrong with an Iberostar aimed at families. The one we've been too (Ciudad Blanca) is very close to the beach and has a lovely kids pool which would be perfect for the 4 year old.
