Barcelona with 13 month old

We booked our first holiday as a 3: 2 nights in Barcelona in October. Land mid morning so we have the rest of this day followed by a full day, and come back lunchtime so we'll only have the morning on the final day.

(I know it would've been much easier before DC was mobile but despite having a passport from 4 weeks old it's taken this long to convince DH, who is not the biggest fan of planes, that a holiday is a good idea...)

Looking for recommendations please:

  • lightweight RF car seat for the taxi transfer
  • lightweight easy pop up/down pram
[we've requested a room with a cot but it's down to availability - do we need to take a travel cot?]
  • stuff that we definitely must not forget to pack
  • things we must see/do that will be toddler friendly

We're staying near Gothic quarter and don't mind a good walk in favour of public transport.

Thanks so much!

The aquarium is supposed to be lovely if the weather isn’t great. There are some lovely parks too.

Given you are only there for a couple of days I’d just wander round, there is so much going on at a street level without actually havjng ti actually “do anything” La Ramblas, El Born and the port are all lovely, perhaps a trip on the cable car too?

La Font du Majic used to be amazing, not sure if it’s still good/when it’s on etc

can’t help re carrier/cot as it’s been 14 years since I’ve used either 😂

Don’t bother taking a travel cot - I’d risk it, since you’re going off peak.
Kinderkraft Grande and Silver Cross Zest would be my recommendations for small compact strollers. Neither can be taken in the cabin but can be gate checked. I’d also take a baby backpack if you have one.

@Chocbuttonsandredwine thank you so much for this I really appreciate it, some really fab ideas. I think I've got it in my head we have to do things but given that we'll be heavily in work/childminder routine it'll be really nice being without an itinerary for once.

I've just had a look at the cable cars and the font, they look brill! We took baby to an aquarium a couple of months ago and it went down a treat so will definitely have a nosey at that too. Will let you off re 14 years Grin thanks so much for your help x

You def don’t need an itinerary, there is so much to see just wandering around you’ll have a ball. There’s a market just off La Ramblas that does the most amazing food, it’s an attraction in itself.

Just wander around, eat ice cream, soak it in.

Tapas suggestions - La romane, 9 nine and Tapeo del born

The bus is easy for the transfer; no need for car seats , just use your sling or the stroller. I agree with the pp the main thing about Barcelona is wandering around, that will keep you entertained.

Ah bugger we booked a car transfer with the holiday deal, will have a look into and see if there's an option for bus. Looking forward to just pottering around too ☺️ Thank you!
