Help! Holiday recommendations needed

Does anyone have any recommendations of where we could have our first family holiday next year.

Criteria:
2 adults and 2 toddlers - 4 and 1
First holiday so ideally nothing longer than 3.5 hours flight from UK
Warm and hopefully mainly sunny weather in early June but nothing too boiling for the kids
Not too long a transfer from airport in the destination
Needs to be close to some livelihood- not karaoke bars and nightclubs but local tavernas/ restaurants, family orientated, pretty harbour that type of thing
Ideally close to a sandy beach
We do like to travel around and see places so will likely hire a car whilst there but maybe not the whole time and don't want to be secluded and stuck to the hotel, not a huge fan of hotel entertainment and would prefer dinner out/walk/ kids in bed and chill on the balcony

We love Greece, Italy, Croatia but all have been done pre children and criteria has changed slightly since!

Any recommendations from places you've loved with kids the same age please recommend :)

I like Menorca or Majorca with little ones.

Cascais in Portugal - close enough to Lisbon for a day trip

With kids that age I'd avoid a hotel and try book an airbnb apartment/house. Brittany, France or The Hague in Netherlands would be good places. You can get ferry over or short flights. Both areas have beaches but civilisation.

What about a campsite that has luxury accommodation.

We stayed here recently and it was lovely. Perfect for young children and right near the Ile d'Oléron. You could also visit La Rochelle. https://www.sandaya.co.uk/our-campsites/sequoia-parc

Camping Séquoia Parc: 5 star campsite in Royan (Charente-Maritime)

Make the most of your holiday at the camping Séquoia Parc in Royan and relax with the family in this campsite in Charente-Maritime.

How do you travel here? Do you fly?

Frenchfancy · 10/06/2023 11:14

@Jessica60 you can fly into La Rochelle and hire a car. It's about 45 minutes drive. There are also loads of campsites on the il de ré but nothing as good as this one.

We drove as we live about 1h30 from there.

We’ve just been to the La Madrague area of Saint Cyr Sur Mere. It’s got a lovely little sandy beach, a marina and a row of restaurants. Saint Cyr itself has a bigger beach and more stuff.
We got the train but if you’re hiring a car, you could probably train as far as Marseille then drive the last 30 minutes.

We had a lovely holiday in Carvoeiro, Algarve last year at Monte Dourado apartments. The town itself is full of bars and tavernas (one or two do have karaoke but easily avoided!). Beach v nearby and there are only around 100 apartments with 5 pools to choose from. We hired a car for a week, plenty to do around the resort

@Jessica60 we have a static very near there. We load up the car and drive down with the kids and dogs. Live in SE London, leave around 5am and are there around 1800. Being able to Chuck everything in the car and have our own car / car seats there makes the drive worth it.

Majorca

It looks lovely. I'm a bit nervous of driving in France. About how much would a taxi from la rochelle to the campsite be? Thank you

Do you use the euro tunnel then or ferry? It just looks quite a big drive on the map.

Alykes in Zante is lovely and has a lovely shallow bay, very safe for children. Menorca is also lovely and Cala N Bosch is a nice resort with a harbour 👍

Puerto pollensa, Majorca. Marina, pretty pine prom walk, loads of restaurants, bars, great long beach and mountains in the background, a very Spanish feel. We are going for the 4th time this year.
