I start a new job on monday which is 15 mins away from my house and i will be working 9-2, 3 days in the office and 1 day at home, which is all good except for the school holidays as childcare is going to be a nitemare.
BUT, i had a letter this morning for a job interview on tuesday (when i will be at my new job) but its evening work and 30 mins away. i dont know what to do evening work would be easier but my new employer has been flexible for me. Oh what a pain, any ideas??

Go to the interview anyway, and if you don't get the job no problem, but if you do then you can weigh up all the options then. Speak to the interviewers and see if they can do the interview at another time when it will be more convenient.

the only thing that concerns me is the distance, and the fact i will be paying more in diesel. would they change the time do u think?

As it will only be one day a week can you not try and arrange childcare for that day?

Perhaps if you can't afford or find a childminder you could do a swap with a friend for that one day (eg you look after someone else's on your day off if they look after yours on the day you need to work) There is bound to be a way around it.

After all, you have no guarantee that you will get the job.

Give it a try, nothing ventured etc. 30 mins away is a fair distance, but is the money/ job better?

ive changed the time of the interview so im going to go and see what happens, i would have done my new job for 2 days by then so i should know if im going to like it or not and if i did get offered the evening one it wont be straight away. The money is a bit less and its further to go but i dont know what the hours are yet.
