Driving Calais to the Dordogne in August, trying to get organised. Please could someone advise which website to get the Crit air sticker? There seem to be several, some more complicated and expensive than others? Is is actually quite straightforward, and am I just being a bit thick?! Its been a long day...😆

https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/news/motoring-news/law-change-for-uk-drivers-in-french-cities/
This link gives all the info, and the only truly correct (and definitely cheapest) link to govt website to order. Very straightforward. Best to get it done now. Could take a month or so. Doesn’t cost much.
Have a lovely holiday!

Thank you. Confused by what the Euro Standard refers to??? And do we need to attach a copy of the reg certificate? I'm so bad at stuff like this .
I can't wait for the holiday though!

As I understand it, from motorhome forums I am on, the crit air sticker should cost about €4-5 and this is the official site Crit air

You can attach a copy of the V5 if you are unsure of any info, and they will send you the relevant sticker.

If you click on the hamburger menu on the top right corner of the page, you can translate it to English.

I got one last summer. It came pretty quickly. I filled in the official form and it cost a few Euro. I filled all the fields in based on the V5 document but I didn't seem to have exactly all the fields they wanted. I did it as best I could but think got confirmation pretty quickly that it was processed and then just the postal time from France.
I got one to be in the safe side and it doesn't expire since we drive in France at least once a year. But I didn't actually go into any critair zones as we don't tend to drive into cities.
Is the Euro standard your vehicle classification? Ours is a diesel campervan but Euro6 compliant so we have the yellow critair sticker. This might help https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/emissions/euro-emissions-standards/

Thank you. I'll have another look at it later on today and hopefully it won't seem so baffling. I don't know what what was up with me yesterday 😂

Yes you just add things from the v5. Thanks to the eu the forms marry up so you put the relevant codes across.

Two tips - check what your fuel type is in french - gazole/essence and be prepared to have to reduce the size of the photo of the v5. There are websites to do this - but that is the faffy bit

It is quite quick once you have submitted the form

Agree with this, it looked horribly complicated when I first read about it but applying is quite straightforward on the official gov website. If you're being asked to pay more than a few euro, you're not on the right website.

What is a bit more complicated is working out which cities you can drive in depending on the age of your vehicle. Different cities are implementing the scheme at different rates (at least, they were when we went last year) so you might want to do a quick check on the places you're visiting.

I think it’s just for coming through Rouen but I will have a look. It will be trying to download or scan the V5 that will trip us up I think. Not very tech savvy and that sounds beyond my skill set. 😳🙈

Think I attached a photo of it. If I remember correctly.

How long did your sticker take to arrive OP? I received the email confirmation of the application being successful on 12th July but still nothing in the post, and we leave on Saturday. Do we need the sticker to drive on the main road through Rouen or is it just to enter the city centre? Also my email said I could use the attached receipt as proof of vehicle classification but presumably that doesn't negate the need for a sticker in the crit air zones?

We drove to France a couple of months ago including into Paris. We weren't aware of the existence of crit air stickers until we were already in France and didn't have any issue

I've done some frantic googling this morning and it seems it's on the spot fines (rather than cameras) and if I show the email confirmation it will be sufficient. Hope so anyway! We are Euro 6 rated so should be ok in most places I think. We've been driving to France for years including last year and didn't even hear of Crit Air until a few weeks ago.

trulyunruly01 · 20/07/2023 07:10

They'll send an email within a day or so and there's a printable version you can pop onto your dashboard.
I forgot they existed and the car has changed, so I ordered mine about 20 June for travel on 22, used the printable and the real one was here on my return on 29.

trulyunruly01 · 20/07/2023 07:16

Part of the route is through the outskirts of Rouen. The satnav throws up Rouen zone as an issue.
But if you have the email it will be fine. You've paid your money and your in the system.

Bugsy73 · 20/07/2023 08:41

It took maybe a week to arrive, it was quite quick. I’m sure you’ll be fine though if you have the email receipt etc. We’ve just got the toll tag thing delivered as well. All seems very complicated for a weeks holiday 😂
