Hello! Just been quoted a large amount of money to get kids vaccinated against Hep A for summer hols. Has anyone managed to get this done for under £188 per child or do I just need to suck it up?

Where are you going and who has quoted you for the vaccine?

Cambodia/Vietnam. That was the price at the private GP next to our GP surgery

Check the Superdrug website. It shows only £55 for Hep A

Boots quotes a lower price too

Thank you!

Are they offering 1 dose or 2?
Apparently 1 dose covers for a a year but if you get a second vaccine within that time period you are covered for a lot longer

All booked with Boots. It's just one dose and is £59 each, so much better. Thanks all

Will try to remember to get the second dose!

A 2nd dose within 6-12 months apparently gives protection for 20+ years rather than just 1 year for 1 dose

Have they advised any other vaccinations as HepA can sometimes come as a combined vaccine covering other diseases

Timeforaliein · 06/06/2023 18:18

We are covered for the other vaccines that are advised - diphtheria, thyroid and tetanus - so it is just the Hep A that the NHS can't administer
