Visiting london this weekend with 3 small kids - need advice as pretty clueless!

Hi - Help - myself and my partner have booked to stay in a hotel in Maida Vale this weekend with kids 1, 3 & 5 yrs. Really don't know London - how should we get about - car / taxi / bus / tube. Would like to take kids to see main "sights". Any advice much appreciated!

I would seriously suggest that you fork out for one of the hop on hop off bus tours in order to make the most of your time, for example

they are a bit pricey (second one better value, £60 for two adults and three children for a 48 hour period) BUT you will spend less time mucking around / looking for bus stops etc, the view from the top is nice and the stops will be right outside the places that you want to see (including science museum, national history museum, both of which I'd second, also princess diana playground). There's a river boat trip thrown in.

Personally I think the zoo is over priced, but guess it depends where you live normally (ie whether there are other zoos that you could go to).

Will be interested to know how you get on. We have just booked a Travelodge for the October half term which coincides with DSs birthday - £29!!!!!

So don't forget to update and let us know what your kids loved best. I am hoping to do Natural History and Science museums, but what else???
