Yes very easy to burn - need to remember this for my sun cream adverse eldest actually!

We are at Ramsau am Dachstein this time.

NCTDN · 13/08/2023 10:12

That's where we were!
We explored the whole area but stayed in Schladming.

Reepicheepy · 13/08/2023 10:24

Hope you enjoyed it! I’ve previously only been to zem al see so a newish area

Reepicheepy · 13/08/2023 10:27

@Reepicheepy I can back three days ago. The weather was incredibly mixed - luckily I had a mixture of everything with me. One day was 9 degrees and rainy, the next was 24 and sunny!

Another one interested in weather & packing! On the warm days, we're the evenings very cool? (i know you can check forecast but the stated temperature doesn't always tally with how it feels, even the 'feels like' temp on some apps is often not accurate. )
Thanks

I only wore a jumper on a couple of nights, and they were the very wet days.

blanketblank · 13/08/2023 12:07

We have just been in Austria and the weather was very changeable, can be really hot but also can be really rainy and the forecasts kept changing during the trip! We go most years and did manage to get tick borne encephalitis jabs done privately in London.

Reepicheepy · 13/08/2023 12:08

@blanketblank - could I ask where? I tried all the private providers I could find in London and was told there was basically no child vaccines available at the moment ( I was even organised enough to start this several months ago!)

Yea every day we had changes of clothes with us as we never knew first thing how the day would turn out.

Thank you. Will have warmer layer with us obviously, good to know we might need some cooler evening clothes too

blanketblank · 13/08/2023 13:49

@Reepicheepy re vaccines, the last booster was at least a year ago but dh asked a local private gp practice and they sourced some. It sounds like there is a shortage just now?

blanketblank · 13/08/2023 13:55

Have pmd you the surgery in case it helps

Reepicheepy · 13/08/2023 14:02

Thanks - yes it seems there is a National shortage of the children’s one, you can get the adults still

Caspianberg · 13/08/2023 14:08

I wouldn’t worry that much about the ticks. We live here. Ticks are everywhere in woodlands, our cats always get them.
However tick season is mainly April/ May so you are past it.

Also Ds is vaccinated but he’s never has a tick, dh and I have never had a tick either, despite All of us being outside most the days, and house boarders woodland.

Atm this week it’s hot. Was 32 yesterday and hot still when we came home around 9pm from restaurant

Reepicheepy · 13/08/2023 14:34

Thanks @Caspianberg - I think I’m slightly paranoid as DS did get one last time we were there but interestingly that was May ( also we’d been at a farm thing and he’d been hanging out with the horses and goats most of the afternoon so is suspect it was from them!).

Caspianberg · 13/08/2023 15:11

@Reepicheepy - buy yourself some ‘tick o twisters’ they are easiest and safest way to remove ticks if anyone does get one. And about £5 for pack on Amazon.

Reepicheepy · 13/08/2023 15:12

Yes I’ve got the tick removers this time!

Caspianberg · 13/08/2023 15:15

You will have better luck it being August. Our cats have tick/ flea treatment but I’m not joking that in May there’s usually about 2 weeks they can come in with a new one multiple times a day! Haven’t seen one on them for months now

NCTDN · 13/08/2023 16:00

32 degrees @Caspianberg !!! I just hoped for dry weather last week...

WhenIWasAFieldMyself · 16/08/2023 17:24

Resurrecting this to say I'm currently in Seefeld and it's been about 26 today. A hot hike! Also recommend to check the weather forecast more frequently as yesterday evening it forecast showers all afternoon here, but not a drop.

Caulidop · 16/08/2023 21:19

@WhenIWasAFieldMyself what's it been like in the evenings? I'll be there next week. This weekend looks like it's going to be toasty!

Caspianberg · 17/08/2023 05:07

@Caulidop - it’s been nice. Evening thunderstorms are common even in normal
summers, but if they happen they blow over quickly.
Daytime temp should be 28-32+ the next week, and nighttime’s it usually drops a daily but down to 18 ish. But that’s good as means you can sleep nicely.

A little bit cooler but still pleasant. Thin jumper maybe. We've been in Innsbruck today as rain was forecast and it's been around 30 degrees. Clouded over now and thundery clouds rolling in.

Reepicheepy · 17/08/2023 16:58

Yes we are now in Salzburg and it’s hot!

There is a very unusual heatwave forecast for next week over Central and western Europe - rarely happens this late in august so it does look like it’s going to be very hot for this time of year!

Im really hoping it does drop in the evening so my kids sleep.
