Hiya! Anyone know what kind of travel plug is needed for Jordan please?
I've tired Google but it just says they have many types of sockets 🤷‍♀️🙈

We've just come back and all of the hotels we stayed in were a normal 3 pin plug so all our devices were fine to plugged straight in. We took a couple of 2 pin adaptors just in case, as like you we found the information on line confusing! Have a great time, it was fabulous!

TizerorFizz · 05/06/2023 11:39

You can buy multi pin Adaptors. They work anywhere!

Glitterbiscuits · 05/06/2023 12:13

They generally do have all types of sockets, sometimes in the same room

GeraltsBathtub · 05/06/2023 12:19

Here’s a photo of a plug from the hotel we stayed at near Petra - basically any plug is fine! We took EU plug adapters but iirc we used our normal U.K. plugs everywhere.

Plug for Jordan??

Modern/updated hotels seem to have multi-sockets like the pic above, but we used the European 2 round-pin plugs in some places recently.

Dancingfairydreams · 05/06/2023 14:26

Ooh fab! Thanks guys. I'll take some 2 pin ones just in case but thanks for the reassurance. @GeraltsBathtub pic is super helpful 👌

@doistayordoigo what were the temps like? Hope you had a great time! I'm super excited to be going, we fly out Monday

Temperature varied depending on where we were...was very hot on our second day in Petra and in Wadi Rum especially. Dead Sea where we were last was about 39 I think. If there's anything else you want to know just ask, we had a really good time and enjoyed it thoroughly. Where exactly are you going?

wistfullyfocused · 05/06/2023 16:52

I read this that you were giving a plug to Jordan i.e. Go it’s great!

I was coming to say, yes it is! Go.

Enjoy OP we had a fantastic time this time last year. Hat, water bottle, sun cream, all needed (clearly), but such an amazing place.

Dancingfairydreams · 05/06/2023 22:18

Fabulous thanks, we are doing a tour, starting in Amman,
Day one going to Madaba, Mount Nebo & Shobale Castle on route to Petra
Day 2 full day in petra
Day 3 Petra, little petra & wadi rum - staying in a tent & stargazing
Day 4 Wadi rum to Petra
Day 5 Amman, Jerash, and Ajloun Castle
Day 6 Amman, Desert Castle, Dead Sea
Day 6 free Day in Amman

It'll be my first time in that part of the world so I'm very excited.

What did you wear? I've gone for lots of loose fitting long trousers & light tops, high neck & shoulders covered, I've got a few maxi dresses too, thinking more for evening wear.

I always find covering up easier than cream. I wore pretty much what you describe. Lots of women cover up, even in the pool, so covering is also standard.

The chicken shawarma and the food generally was amazing. Make sure you get to some local restaurants.

doistayordoigo · 06/06/2023 08:12

I wore long trousers and loose tops, as did most of the women in our group. Don't worry about high necklines, they're not particularly necessary. I'd recommend good footwear for Petra, especially if you plan on climbing up to the monastery, which is well worth it. At the Dead Sea plenty of people were wearing bikinis or normal swimming costumes as it has more of a resort feel. Take some mozzie spray as this was the only place we got bitten!

Georgyporky · 06/06/2023 19:08

Carry toilet paper with you, & put it in the bin !
We found that public loos - even in remote areas - were always clean, but lacked paper. I've never mastered the art of the bum-gun.

Dancingfairydreams · 06/06/2023 23:14

@wistfullyfocused we cannot wait to try some local food!!

@doistayordoigo perfect thanks, yes we have a full day exploring petra scheduled for 9 hours on the itinerary so will have comfy shoes for sure! I've got some new doc marten sandles that will hopefully do the job! Thanks for the tip re mozzies too! Bugs generally like me so will make sure to grab some spray.

@Georgyporky I did wonder about the loo roll, I'd seen it mentioned on a few blogs I've been reading. Handy to know. I'll grab something suitable.

I'm also going to Jordan on Thursday very excited too.
Taking a fancy multi plug adaptor a friend has lent me.
Thanks for all the tips - I have a similar wardrobe!
and mozzy spray but I didn't know about the toilet roll 😀

When you visit Amman, head to Hashem which does the BEST falafel I've ever had (tbh everything from Hashem is fantastic) and then go to the hole in the wall place on the street next door for Kunafa.

Have a great time! I live visiting Jordan, I go regularly for work. People are so friendly.

Dancingfairydreams · 08/06/2023 09:59

@lawrenceofarabia ahh lush! Have am amazing time!!!

@NoTeaNoShade Ooh fab! We live Falafel so will definitely add to our list to make sure we go there! Thanks
