The Carolinas/Tennessee

Hi! I have a draft itinerary for our visit to the Carolinas but I’m not sure if it’s do-able in two weeks:

Arrive Charlotte - 1 night
Ashville/Smoky Mountains - 3 days
Gatlinburg - 1 day
[Need a stop inbetween]
Savannah - 2 days
Hilton Head - 6 days here as a base (will visit Beaufort, Charleston etc for day trips)

I’m not sure if fitting in Gatlinburg is realistic. Keen to go for our son, as Anakeesta looks brilliant.

Our reason for staying so long in Hilton Head is that we’re planning to stay at a large resort with several pools, lazy river etc on the beach so that we can have some relaxation and our son will be entertained!

Happy to miss out Kitty Hawk/Outer Banks, as we have plenty of beach time at Hilton Head.

Wow - Gatlinburg to Savannah is a huge distance. Maybe Greenville, SC as a stopping place - it's increasingly quite a destination. If you go to Gatlinburg and like amusements, you totally should visit Dollywood at Pigeon Forge, which is one of my favourite places, which is to say that I would do 2 days in Gatlinburg, and possibly just 2 nights in Asheville though there's a huge amount going on there (I live there), though TBH I'd stick with 3 nights in Asheville and cut Hilton Head by one day because it is going to be a ton of driving to do in 2 weeks. Good luck - you should have an amazing time!

Brilliant! Thanks for the tip, I’ll check out Greenville. Have heard great things about Dollywood via the Disney World vloggers I watch - totally forgot it was in that area so thanks. I think you’re right - in view of the distance, we need to spend more time in Tennessee and cut H Head a bit.

I've driven from Gatlinburg to Savannah in a day and it was fine. If you can, make sure you stay somewhere in Gatlinburg that has a car park or plan to get there early as parking can be horrendous.
