An evening walk down a dusty track lined with olive trees....

I'm looking for suggestions for places to stay in the Med for a week in late August. We've been fortunate enough to have already had a week in the sun at Easter but it was at an all inclusive resort in Tenerife which really could have been anywhere! I'm fantasising about days spent around the pool followed by evening walks down dusty tracks to secluded local restaurants/tavernas...any ideas? My DD is 5 so a family friendly hotel is a must and although we don't need a kids club, she'd love to go to a mini disco or two. We'd also like to have bed and breakfast so only self catering would be out.

We went to Corfu a few years ago, and it was beautiful. We stayed close to the old town, which is so pretty and full of cafes and tavernas, and we found lots of lovely places to eat off the beaten track too.
Otherwise, Cyprus has lovely parts too.

Have a look at Grand Hotel du Lido in Argeles-sur-Mer. We stayed there a couple of times before Covid. Our youngest was 7-8 at the time, though there were younger children, too. I don't remember it being a particularly child-oriented hotel, but they were completely relaxed about children and so friendly. The food was utterly wonderful. The service was impeccable.

To get to the beach you cross a tree-lined pedestrian boulevard, which is also a lovely place to stroll in the evening.

Thanks Wallaby, do you mean close to Corfu town? Which resorts in Cyprus do you recommend?

I second Corfu, its beautiful.

Corfu town is stunning but also look up Paleokastritsa.
We rode on the worlds slowest and most calm horses up and down winding, dusty paths in the green hills of Paleo...horse looked like it was about to fall asleep half of the time.🤣Of course you can walk too!

Yes, we stayed in a place called Kontokali, really beautiful (hotel of the same name) and great location. We found many sweet tavernas and cafes and hired a car which enabled us to explore lots more of the island.

Cyprus is not as picturesque as Corfu, but still has plenty of charming villages, for example around Larnaca (airport town but lovely villages dotted along the beach. Or, the best beaches are in and around Protaras x
