Has anyone stayed here recently? Thinking of booking for sometime in the next few weeks: photos look good but the reviews are awful.

Old buildings that are in need of renovation. It needs money, could be beautiful again. As such, they aren't charging premiums, so of course, then the visitors aren't as ..ahem..
For a only slighter cheaper stay, right beside the beach, it's great. Haven't used the restaurant for a long time so can't comment on the food.

Tbh haven't been there for a few years, but it was pretty dreadful then! If the reviews are the same now as pre-Covid, accept it's going to be pants.

My pre-Covid experience was that it is very dated, badly managed and in desperate need of renovation. Noisy floors with the uneven creaking floorboards, gaps under doors, windows don't close well with huge gaps.

If you're above the events room ask to be moved - I was above it for a karaoke night once and it was horrific until 1am.

Food was absolutely dire, as was the service - eat out at all meals including breakfast is my advice. We used to go for an annual conference so had no say on where we stayed!

Great location though 😂

ShakeYourFeathers · 31/05/2023 12:30

Stayed in February

It was alright.. definitely doesn't deserve the tripadvisor reviews

£5 extra for the pool! And the valet carpark is £25 a night until 2pm on day of checkout. Which they didn't tell us about. There's a cheaper carpark a 2 min walk away on the same road

Bit dated but for the location and stuff it was alright.

Breakfast was a bit crap though

But would stay again

I stayed there about 8 years ago so my experience is not recent but I don't think they've done anything much to it since. Im local and got a Groupon for it. The room was ok but freezing. The pool was in need of some love and breakfast was premier inn standard - I expected more and have never stayed there again. There are much nicer hotels in the same area.

Thanks everyone - we've decided to give it a miss. We want something a bit nicer so will keep
looking.
As my DF used to say: things are cheap for a reason

Anywhere along the East cliff is lovely; look at the Cumberland. Much better than the Royal Bath.

I really would stay somewhere better
