Best Heathrow T5 long stay parking?

Trying to decide whether to drive or taxi to the airport for a 2.5 week trip. If we drive, I want to make sure that parking is reliable, hassle free, secure, no stressful delays etc. We'd be arriving around 7am on a Monday morning in July. Is there a really good parking option? Taxi would probably cost me at least £100 each way, maybe £150, so I think cost will be comparable.

I always always always splurge on valet parking

it is the most perfect stress free start to holiday

but I book about 10 months in advance (as soon as I book my holiday) so it’s half the cost as it is now.

when do you travel?

And I ONLY use Gatwick official parking

GiveupHQ · 31/05/2023 06:12

There’s the equivalent for Heathrow

We've used Purple Parking for many years at all the London airports.
Efficient, reliable & cheaper than other options. It's cheaper still if you book well in advance.

Go onto Holiday Extras and look at their options. We just used Blue Circle with them and we drop off car right at the terminal and pick up there too. Well worth the cost.

I parked at the Hilton, included overnight accommodation and breakfast the night before too. About £250 for 2 weeks last year

Where would you be taxi-ing from? Heathrow is really accessible using public transport

crtips · 31/05/2023 21:33

Thanks everyone. Lots of useful ideas. So, I'm definitely not using public transport - would have to go in and out of London with kids and lots of luggage on Monday rush hour - not fun. Stupidly, I hadn't even considered the fact that I might be a bit tired to drive home - you can tell I don't fly long haul much!! So probably edging towards taxi, though will check out hotels too.

Thanks!

For 2.5 weeks, I think a taxi will work out cheaper. But if you really want to drive, I recommend the pod parking at T5 (they're part of the official airport parking). I love those pods!

Another vote for pod parking for long stay at Heathrow. Way better than a shuttle bus. As a PP said though, in future book parking as soon as your holiday is booked. You can cancel it right up to a couple of hours before your booking if it’s not needed, but the prices are a lot cheaper if you book months before your holiday.

I use JustPark and park at someone’s house. Never had a problem using it in the past. I paid £60 for two weeks on someone’s drive (they have 5* reviews), 15 minute walk to T4 and if needs be - I could just get a bus/taxi from there. Saved me a fortune!

@crtips your thread reminded me I haven't booked ours!
We usually use https://www.vipheathrow.co.uk/index.php?option=com_ola&view=booking&layout=default-2
They are great and even do Heathrow/Gatwick combo if anyone is flying out of one and into the other.
They were fully booked so I've checked some of these recommendations.
Almost used 'just park' opposite T4 premier Inn (we need a hotel the night before - this usually the cheapest, then use the free airport transport to your actual terminal).
Final check of https://www.purpleparking.com/?agent=ONLIN
and they have a package with premier Inn and blue circle meet and greet. £263 for 3 weeks.
Hotel alone was £88.
Booked 🙂
