Recommend a good spa hotel for solo travel (midlands/beds)

Hi all, I have a v rare opportunity for a night alone and I want to go to a spa hotel! I'm combining it with visiting a friend who lives near Bedfordshire so ideally it would be somewhere north London or possibly M6 /A14 corridor way. Any suggestions? Ideally somewhere I don't feel too self conscious dining alone. Tia
