Sorry for the drama headline!
Going Italy next week. Pisa for the day. Wasn't planning to go up the tower, but have now decided to. However, tickets on the official site have sold out.
Seems plenty of other options on the fee paying travel sites. However, I'm very confused at what I need to pay into and what's free!! And what I need to see?
Would like to go into the cathedral too. I'm usually good at sorting this stuff but there are so many sites it's blowing my mind.
Has anyone been recently and can tell me in simple terms please.
Also says no shorts etc or bare arms in cathedral as place of worship. I get this, but weather will be warm. I will have a long dress probably, but DH and Dc would normally have shorts and t-shirt
What do people do in summer? Just wear trousers or take a change of clothes?

Long shorts and covered shoulders are normally ok. Bare legs, flipflops, vest tops not. Take a wrap or cardigan. Try looking at coopculture website. Iirc entrance into the church and belltower was free but charge to go up the tower and side chapel.

Everywhere is sold out because it's a long weekend bank holiday next weekend, so wherever you are going, try and book ahead. Friday is a public holiday so Saturday has been added on. (Saturday is a normal working day usually)

I can't quite remember but 2 years ago, we had to pay for one thing in Pisa and not the other, didn't do the Tower.

You'll be fine with shorts as long as they aren't skimpy. A short sleeved t shirt will also be fine.

The cathedral is free but you need to book a time slot to get in (you get this at the ticket office). There is a ticket office on site that you can buy tickets from.

Thanks. I think the site I'm looking on has the cathedral included and the cost is to cover the tower not cathedral I presume then

You may already be there by now but when I was in Italy the churches often had shawls for people to wear if they were wearing vest tops.
