wet suits or brave the cold?

Hi,

Ok this sounds bonkers - would you take the children's wet suits? Or is that OTT?

It could be really cold 21/22 degrees for the next week - the sea / pools will probably be colder 😳 but they take up a LOT of space 😂

Would you take wetsuits or not?

I hate feeling cold as that makes me not want to swim 😂

Thank you

What country? What is the sea temp?

Stepbystep100 · 26/05/2023 15:58

Take them! We did to Corfu in April. I went swimming without them and on days when it was 21 or 22 it was fine once in but you can't stay in so long. We also took our snokelling gear....but not the weights obviously!

The only issue is you can't use them on the last day or so as you need them dry to repack. And make sure you have bags to put them in.

Yes, we were the only ones, but who cares!

Scotland - yes.
Mediterranean - no

Assume you're going somewhere in the Med? I took mine to swim in the sea off Stromboli 2 weeks ago. But then i really feel the cold! I remember a few years ago running into the sea in Sardinia at one of the most beautiful beaches i've ever seen - and it was absolutely freezing! That was in June.

You could compromise, and get some swimming leggings and rash vests - small and light to pack, but help a lot with the cold. Wearing a cossie with leggings and a rash vest on top is a halfway house between just a cossie and a full wetsuit.

At this time of year I would expect to need wet suits.

Hiya we landed in Ibiza at 21 degrees and it was a good job I brought the wet suits as the swimming pools are freezing especially at around 4pm with no sun - and that meant my children would play out in the pool and I could relax and watch them (they asked for them 😂)

So thank you everyone - worth taking up half a suitcase 😂
