Prescriptions and going to Italy

We’ve not been abroad for years and years and we’re going to Rome on Saturday. I checked with the airline about how to pack medication but I’ve just suddenly had a thought - we both have cocodamol on prescription for arthritis and I’ve also got liquid morphine for any bad flare ups - I’ve recently had both hips replaced and I’m still a bit sore from the second surgery and I have arthritis in my ankles and knees as well. I was just thinking, it’s all very well checking with the airline but are we allowed to take it into Italy? Or would there be issues? We could survive without it but we’re going to be doing a lot of walking so it will be sore for us both and it would be more pleasant if we could take the medications with us. The last thing I want though is for our medication to get seized at the airport! Does anyone know anything about this? I’ve looked online but have just found conflicting information!

It will be fine. It is an OTC medicine.

@ApolloandDaphne even though it’s a stronger one than you can buy OTC? We have the proof that it’s on prescription and it’s in the original boxes with our name labels on it so I’m sure it’ll be fine, I just keep reading about how you have to be careful with opiods. I can’t decide whether to risk the liquid morphine - again the bottle is inside a box with the pharmacy label on it - or leave it at home!
