Prague or Budapest

I'm looking at taking my sister away for her birthday next month for 3 nights.

I'm thinking either Prague or Budapest.

Has anyone been to both and which one did you think was best/prefer? We're just looking for a girlie weekend.

Thanks

Both lovely but I'd go for Prague.

If you've never been to either I would go to Prague. It's more compact and a great weekend destination. The architecture is amazing. We did a girly weekend in April and loved sitting by the river at Klub Lavka with an aperol. It was my 9th time I think. Old town one day, castle district and Mala Strana the other. We did some free walking tours and drank lots of cocktails. And a vintage car tour of the city. My friend had probably had an aperol too many and thought she was the Queen Mother 😂

I do love Budapest too but it's much more spread out and needs quite a few days to make the most of I think.

I liked both, probably Budapest for me but it depends what you like. If I was planning a weekend away with a girlfriend/sister I'd go to Krakow which I loved.

Budapest is great, a lot to do, and beautiful.

Prague seemed very picturesque but limited in terms of things to do.

Prague, there’s so much to do.

I'm another that would say Krakow Grin sorry. I've been to all three. Budapest felt massive so I think you'd barely see any of it. Prague was lovely, but kind if felt a little "generic European city" (sorry!!) Krakow was just amazing.

Budapest

I loved Budapest when I went there - was travelling and at the time preferred it to Prague (which was also lovely)

However Id choose Prague now as would rather give my money to Czechia than Hungary

I'd definitely go for Budapest. Spend some time at a spa, visit Margritte Island and see the musical fountain, do a wine tasting at Faust Cellars. So much to do and some good shopping as well. My recollection of Prague was that it was enjoyable, but not a huge amount to see. it

They are both fabulous. If you like swimming, spas, steam rooms and mineral pools then definitely Budapest - there is such a massive culture of swimming and spas there, and they have some truly astonishing pools. If you're not so bothered about swimming and spas, then for a short break I'd say Prague, just because, as others have said, it's more compact.

They're all lovely - but my favourite was Budapest. Beautiful, easy to walk around, and affordable. I would visit Prague, Krakow and Budapest again though, so no bad choice!

Glad I'm not alone, Krakow is a fantastic place to visit, there is so much to see and do.
