France, self catering but with communal meals and pool

We've loved visiting a place in Western France for the last few years which is 3 self catering cottages with communal pool and play areas and twice weekly communal meals (optional but everyone comes). We love it but feel it's time to see a different part of France. I asked about locations for an active family holiday recently and was recommended the French alps but I can't find any accommodation that fits this description. We'd be open to a restaurant rather than the communal meals. The kids love meeting other families and we like the vibe where you can be private or sociable depending on your mood! Any ideas? Doesn't have to be Alps.

Valjoly is fun. The accommodation is basic but there's lots to do there.

Between Limoges and Poitiers. You need a car but the countryside is lovely, the gites are modern, lovely pool. Val and Ian, the owners are great hosts, live in the barn next door if you need them, but leave you on your own if you don't.

If you look on Gites de France for options with chambres d’hôtes along with self catering you should find some - we’ve stayed in a few places as you’ve described over the years.

If you want the Alps maybe look
at Hotel Le Bergerie in Morzine. Rooms have a kitchenette if you want to hide away. In the restaurant there’s a communal kids table. There’s a play room, pool, outdoor play areas etc.
