Menorca

I’m aware I’m leaving it very late but want to book a holiday at the beginning of July and wondered about Menorca.

We’re in our 30s, no children, enjoy sun, sea and good food and drink (although no meat).

any recommendations? Due to fertility issues I don’t want to accidentally book a hotel or resort that is full of families!

Menorca is perfect for families with small children. We took ours several times in June and July as pre-schoolers.
It's a lovely island though.

Palma sounds perfect for you

If you are open to self catering then book a villa in San Jaime / Son Bou. We did that many times with and without children. Loved being able to come and go as we pleased, eat where and when we wanted, sit on the patio watching the sun set over the sea. Hire a car and visit the little villages, fabulous archaeological sites and if you like it there's a gin distillery in Mahon! (Various cheese dairies are a great shout too!) Hmmm, might need to book a holiday.....

Palma Majorca or Citudella in Menorca.

You may be better in Palma as Menorca will have a lot of little kids there

I did a long weekend with a friend last year in Cala 'n Bosch, it was wonderful. 10 min taxi ride to Ciutadella (amazing restaurants and very buzzy).

We started here - it's adults only and very new, it was gorgeous.

Mahon could be a good fit.
We stayed in Jardí de Ses Bruixes Boutique Hotel, which was absolutely beautiful - had our own plunge pool on the terrace. Ideal location and came with off-road parking just around the corner. It was worth every penny and cheaper as we booked with them directly. https://jardidesesbruixesboutiquehotel.com-hotel.com/

Their sister hotel, Hotel Rural Son Granot, is
just outside of Mahon but you could walk there in 30 mins. The pool area so peaceful and
there’s a fantastic restaurant next door. You’re a few few minutes walk from Es Castell https://hotelsesbruixes.com/en/hotel-rural-son-granot

Honest advise dont go to Menorca if you dont want to be surrounded by small children.

Fluffygoon · 23/05/2023 23:45

We stayed at the adult only Artiem resort in Cala Galdana. Lovely views of the crescent shaped bay. Lots of activities organised by the hotel eg kayaking, gym, spa. We walked to nearby coves with turquoise water with very few people around. Bus rides to local towns with markets.

You’ll need an adult only hotel - and make sure you go very beginning on July when the kids are still at school

MariaVT65 · 29/05/2023 13:48

I haven’t been but i have also read that Menorca is a great place for little kids, so considering there as my first holiday with my toddler. Things like how’s it’s a small island with quick transfers etc. So maybe not the best place for you. I can generally recommend the canary islands though!

Derbybound2022 · 29/05/2023 22:47

I'm also looking at Menorca as I have two young children and hear it is great for kids!

Katiesaidthat · 30/05/2023 15:13

My brother in law travels to Menorca every July, he is child free and hires a car with his mates and visits the lovely coves and even hired a yatch to visit them from the sea once. Kids aren´t usually around that kind of place. He loves it.
