Mespil or Camden Court hotels in Dublin anyone??

I am trying to book a short break in Dublin for my sister, my mum and me. The hotel Mespil has been offered and Camden Court.

Does anyone know these hotels please to offer an opinion?

TIA

I don't know either of them personally so can't comment on the quality of rooms/service etc, but I've just googled them and the Mespil is a better location IMO, although the Camden Court is more central.

thanks Bran

Hi I live in Dublin and may I compliment you on your choice of holiday destination??

I know both the hotels. They are both fairly ok, if it were me staying with my mother I would probably choose the Mespil as it's in a quieter, cleaner spot near the canal, but they are both within walking distance of the city centre. They're functional, not lap of luxury etc, but for a weekend break I think fine. Camden Court closer to a Luas (tram) stop if you are going to be going out of town, Mespil closer to a DART (train) station if you are planning on going north or south along the coast.

Of course you can come and stay with me!

hi and thanks for the extra messages. VG, we'd love to accept your kind invitation . We need three deluxe single rooms please. Is that okay? can you fit us in?

But of course mckenzie, I presume three deluxe single rooms was a mere typo and what you actually meant was an unhoovered airing cupboard for two and the large part of the cutlery drawer for one.

both are decent quality hotels. I've dealt with both in a professional capacity and you shouldn't be disappointed.

the camden court is in a part of town that can get very messy (lots of young drunk people) late at night. It's not a dangerous area though. It's near some of the nicest parts of Dublin. I used to live very near there and it's great for access to Stephen's Green, Grafton St. area, the Liberties, Christ Church etc.

The Mespil, as someone has already said, is in a much quieter location beside the canal. You'll have a longer walk to bars/restaurants than you would from Camden Court, although there are some decent places nearby to go to if you can find them.

oh VG, if it was just me and my dear sister I'd take you up on it but I can't see my dear mum fitting into a cutlery drawer, bless her heart. So I shall have to decline your kind offer.

Skidoodle, thanks for the extra descriptions - I think I might just pass them to my sister and let her choose
