Ideas for Namibia

DH and I are currently looking at doing a self drive tour of Namibia this summer. Obviously we'll be seeing Etosha, Swakopmund, Sossusvlei and Windhoek. Are there any other places that people would recommend. We really don't want to miss anything memorable.
Thanks for your help.

Obviously.

Walvis Bay and Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sleleton Coast

Okanjima. Expensive unless you are camping but the best chance of seeing leopard and pangolin.
We also did a 2 night river trip in Caprivi (very basic river bank camping so not everyone's cup of tea) but that's quite a long drive from Etosha.

Windhoek is dull as fuck - don't plan to spend much time there! It's an ocean of the same old tourist tat and crappy restaurants.
Sossusvlei is incredible, and we liked Swakopmund - there's a fab dolphin watching boat trip.
I'd love to visit the skeleton coast, but I think it's either off limits or ££££ these days. Possibly you can do a helicopter tour (vague recollection that we wanted to but it was too expensive!)

I think your itinerary is pretty solid. As a pp said, don’t spend long in Windhoek.

Look at the other suggestions and only do them if they really align with your interests and budget. Distances are huge so you will eat massively into your actual holiday if you try to shoehorn things in that you don’t really want to do.

There are so many activities to do around Swakopmund. I’d definitely budget a bit of time there. Apparently it’s usually gloomy on that part of the coast (I was there during a ‘freak’ sunny spell) so I’m not sure if the weather affects the activities. Just don’t stay in an Old People’s Home like I accidentally did 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks so much for your advice. It's given us lots to think about.
