Do you enjoy hotel entertainment?

Just that really, DS & I have had to endure an hour of the lion king because DP loves hotel entertainment...

Why do you have to watch it too?

Chchchanges23 · 22/05/2023 23:52

Oh no that sounds dire! We’re Eurocampers rather than hotel folk, but the entertainment on European campsites is terrible too - we always go along and see how long we can last 🤣 One year the (Italian) team outdid themselves and lipsyched along to a large part of Mamma Mia (the movie), including dialogue. Maybe it makes it easier to watch when it’s delightfully amateur? I’d find a serious attempt at the Lion King boring and cringeworthy. You have my sympathy - I would have drowned my sorrows at the bar!

DogAndCatMama · 22/05/2023 23:56

It’s mostly shite. Alcohol helps. 😅

I agree with a pp though, can’t you go and do something else or go to your room and leave your partner there if he likes it and you two don’t?

I really enjoy a good show but sadly hotels seem to offer entertainment that is unbelievably terrible. The only exception to this has been Vegas.
DH and I seem to be the only people who enjoy this though, all our friends and family actively avoid hotels with shows! While your DP is making the most of it, you and DS could head off to a bar.

God, no. Actively avoid hotels with ‘entertainment’. Also those bouncy twits who try and get you involved in pool games at 3pm

lakesummer · 23/05/2023 01:36

I'm going with no, but other than Disney and Thomas I don't think I've stayed anywhere with any entertainment.
Dc loved both.

marshmallowsforbreakfast · 23/05/2023 03:20

I must admit I do enjoy it. I think you have to just embrace it for what it is and know it's ridiculous and cringe worthy and if makes it funnier!

It depends. The majority is awful but we also had a couple of really good ones. In one hotel you had to grab a table at least one hour before it started or you had to stand, it was really popular.

But, we normally have a card game or similar with us.

Amdone123 · 23/05/2023 07:46

I remember the hotel entertainment once in Tenerife. They were, ironically, called Amnesia !
I can't forget how bad they were.
But, we were entertained, probably not the way they'd intended though.

TheKobayashiMaru · 23/05/2023 07:47

Why are you watching it if you don't want to see it? Just do your own thing, you don't have to be joined at the hip.

Alcohol helps Grin

The silent disco was hilarious at the ai i went to in the canaries but it was ai and there had been a beach party and bbq all afternoon (even put bubble mixture in one pool!) Seen some decent bands / singers, those amateurish shows less fond of
