When the kids were little, Camp Bestival in Dorest followed by a week of camping near Studland / Corfe Castle / Swanage.
Recently, with teenagers, all inclusive in Crete!
I'm sure others will be on soon with reports of amazing safaris, a month touring South America, and other such far flung adventures. Funds and a lack of adventurous spirit mean we haven't done anything of the sort!

Costa Rica. One very special place 😍

RAL96 · 20/05/2023 22:12

Jamaica - was absolutely incredible and so much fun.

In terms of picturesque, then the Maldives

British Columbia, hands-down favourite (didn't want to come back!). Otherwise, as a couple, India (amazing though sometimes stressful), and with the family, French alps in summer with mini France tour on the way there and back.

Oooh, love threads like this - whilst the best holidays for me have been in some amazing places, it’s often other things that make them brilliant - like the mood everyone is in, work stress levels, how comfortable you feel about spending at the time, which particular developmental stage the kids and how annoying they are, the other ‘stuff’ you have to worry about like food and safety and whatever… so on that basis my Favourite holiday was a road trip in Arizona, a perfect Mix of amazing weather, lovely hotels, staying with friends, amazing wildness, some cool Americana type stuff and just my family being lovely!

Lisbon!

Oooh and Bilbao/San Sebastian

Mexico - touring and visiting temples in the jungle; Vietnam and India. But I also love the holidays I do with DD where we go All inclusive, adults only and read books and drink cocktails by the pool. Last year I did a river cruise with a friend and that was a revelation. Waking up every day with a new city to explore.

mdh2020 · 21/05/2023 09:21

Oops - sorry. As a family our fondest memories are of self catering holidays with days spent on the beach at Lyme Regis. DC even took themselves back there for a holiday together after uni.

beguilingeyes · 21/05/2023 09:27

Vietnam. Staggeringly beautiful country, lovely people and amazing food. Also, cheap as chips once you get there
I could have spent a fortnight quite happily cruising around Halong Bay.

MessyBunny · 21/05/2023 20:16

BC (Before Children) Two weeks around Turkey, highlight being Cappadocia; 3 weeks up the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to Vancouver, Bergamot and Lago d’iseo.

Since kids: When tiny, they lived Wells Next The Sea in North Norfolk and surrounds, Sardinia, Croatia island hopping.

City Breaks: Venice, Copenhagen, Berlin.

UK: Trebetherick, Scotland - everywhere, Giant’s Causeway, Herefordshire.

fussychica · 22/05/2023 09:35

Before children : Island hopping in the Caribbean, wonderful.
With child : Disney World Florida in a Disney hotel, great fun and so memorable.
More recently: Road trip in Croatia from Zagreb to Dubrovnik, stunning. Our road trips through France and Spain have been amazing too.
Best chill out, villa with heated pool in Lanzarote
Uk : probably multiple holidays in Carbis Bay or Pembrokeshire coast. Might have said the Lake District but I had a stinking cold the whole trip which took the edge off.

madamepresident · 22/05/2023 09:56

Sri Lanka or South Africa

AngelsWithSilverWings · 22/05/2023 09:58

Corfu - villa with pool and an easy 5 min drive to Kalami bay. I fell in love with Corfu during our first trip there and we've been times now.

In the UK - camping for two weeks at Three Cliffs Bay near Swansea. We were there with another family and it was an idyllic two weeks spent exploring the area and enjoying the beaches and lovely views from the campsite.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 22/05/2023 09:59

Narrow boat (once with family, once with friends)
New Zealand (three week roadtrip)
Zambia (twice, for safari)

allthewoes · 22/05/2023 10:02

Safari in Kenya, and walking in the Cinque Terre (Italy)

tatteddear · 22/05/2023 10:12

Croatia. Took the DD's on my own when they were maybe 10 and 11. We just loved it there!

SpringBunnies · 22/05/2023 10:14

10 day in Japan travelling from Tokyo to Kyoto. I did it before having kids and I would love to take my kids to do the same trip again.

Gothambutnotahamster · 22/05/2023 10:56

Lapland for Christmas when the kids were little - absolutely amazing!

Thailand when they were 13, 11 & 9 - did Bangkok, Koh Samui & Kao Lak - we all loved it!
