Looking for recommendations - Vancouver/Calgary

I'm visiting Canada in July to celebrate an special anniversary and will be spending time in Vancouver and Calgary. I'd really like to treat DH to a special meal out while we're there and wondered if anyone had any restaurant recommendations? I'm looking for a 'proper' restaurant rather than a bar type place and not too worried about price.

A friend of mine celebrated a birthday at the Top Of Vancouver revolving restaurant a few weeks back and said the food was amazing (as well as the view being stunning). She sent me a photo of the special birthday dessert they made for her and it was mouthwatering. We are just back from Canada and didn’t make it there as we only had a few days in Vancouver but there are lots of mid range places with good food, and a buzzy atmosphere. Earls Test Kitchen on Hornby Street (there are a few branches) is good, especially for happy hour.

Second that! The views of the mountains and harbour from Top of Vancouver were incredible and the food was delicious.
